My dog died.

She really did. Or, rather, we put her down. I'm gone in NY, so I didn't have to bring her to the vet (she hates vets). And I don't have to throw away her food bowl, toys. It's harder for the rest of the family.

Bella

She ran in the darkness after a ball I could not see,
into the sea I could not see, came back
and dropped it at my feet, waiting,
vibrating like a tuning fork.
She ran into the lake in the evening,
the lights at Zephyr Cove winking on,
came out, shook icy water on us,
waiting for the ball to be thrown again.
In the park in the darkness
she ran until my arm was tired.
She sat in my truck, her head out the window,
and when I went into the store
she moved to the driver’s side,
as if she might decide to drive off.
Her muzzle grew grey
but always the sweet face, the silky ears,
waiting at the bottom of the stairs
which way, which way she asked.
She watched television
only to keep someone company,
became from time to time, ellen’s dog,
sofia’s dog, emily’s dog, christopher’s dog.
She lay at the corner of the coffee shop
and raised her head
to those who bent to tell her,
you’re a good dog, aren’t you?

Sarah Michelson: looking for persons ages 11-75

Sarah Michelson posted an audition opportunity on Dancenyc.org today. A vague call for 11-75 year olds for an upcoming project. I have no idea what it is and i'm all in.

My Senior Piece as a graduating dance major at the University of Utah was based in large part on Michelson's "Devotion."

all I got for xmas

No one really wants this - this picture of themselves....but no one really wants the $10 present that I would be able to afford for them. Alternately soap, socks, thoughtful book, repeat. So I hope the effort counts for more than the picture.

Here is a first step I took today towards one picture. Leaving the face blank right now because a) I like the polarization between the face and landscape and b) I'm too afraid to start messing with the face.

I based my colors and general look on these postcards, which are currently hung over my desk as beautiful images (there are 3 different postcards- triathalon, marathon, 5k) and as a reminder that I should train for the upcoming half-marathon that I'm signed up for!

A silly comic I made....my dad was proud of his new trailer...I was glad I no longer would be subjected to family camping trips.

I made a fun invitation for a x-mas party. Once again I'm without photoshop, so I made this just with a scanner....I would have liked to touch it up, make the white less white, add some texture, but i'll make do without. We sent this out via an attachment in an email. Oh! and the hostess is a science teacher, hence the skeleton.
